The Newport Robotics Group (NRG) is a FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) team based out of Newport High School in Bellevue Washington. As an FRC team, each year, NRG designs and builds a robot capable of competing in the FIRST Robotics Competition. This task is not easy. Besides the obvious engineering challenges involved in building a sophisticated robot in such a short time, the members of NRG also need to raise the funds to achieve their goals. All of these responsibilities and experience placed upon the members of NRG develop them into individuals passionate about technology and innovation and send them into the greater academic world ready to take the lead on the cutting edge of innovation of all kinds, be it technological, business or any other field they should chose to endeavor into.

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), was founded in 1989 to inspire young people's interest and participation in science and technology.  Our mission is to inspire students to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.

Each year Newport Robotics Group (NRG) has continued to flourish, thanks to community’s support. Through our involvement programs such as FIRST Lego League (a mentorship for middle school children) and FIRST Robotics Competition (a high school level of robotics competition) we open students’ eyes to the skills, opportunities, and genuine fun in science and math.

NRG continues working to further the education of students in real life. After completing the season, each and every student is able to proudly say that they have learned something, not only new, but that they can carry on with them for years to come, whether it be planning, organizing, designing, or building.

However, the team’s success depends largely upon our financial condition from year to year.  Since the basic costs of the competition can begin at a staggering $9,000.00, every bit of support is greatly valued.

With your contribution, our team can continue its legacy of premiere performance, and offer top-notch hands on experience to students with a true passion for science and mathematics.

Your valuable donation will surely support more students this season. We request you to send in your donation in the addressed, stamped envelope by February 1, 2009. If your employer has a matching gifts program please inform them of your donation.  Checks can be payable to Newport High School Robotics. Our tax id number is 91-6001637.

I hope we can count on you to help. Please send the most generous gift you can, as soon as possible.

Any donations are gratefully appreciated.
